Idols judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Msengana and Gareth Cliff arrived in Cape Town in style this morning [Tuesday, 20 March], flying in by helicopter to the gorgeous Table Bay Hotel at the V&A Waterfront to hand out as many Golden Tickets as they can in today’s Idols Season 8 auditions.More than a thousand hopeful singers from all over the Western Cape and as far as Namibia auditioned in Cape Town last month for the chance to perform for the judging panel, and they will have to give their all in today’s auditions. “We’re only handing out Golden Tickets to the very best of the best,” Idols judge Unathi Msengana promised.
The singers who make the grade today will join other finalists from around the country at Theatre Week in Sun City in April. But first it will be Jozi’s turn to vie for those Golden Tickets at the Johannesburg Judges’ Auditions at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday, 7 April.
Season 8 of Idols is a co-production between M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will be broadcast on both channels from 3 June 2012.
