Phillip Phillips is the new American Idol. The Georgia native was crowned the winner of the 11th season of the hit show last week.
During the two-hour live finale, in which 132 million votes were cast, Phillips beat 16 year-old Jessica Sanchez to Idol glory.
Throughout the competition judges and critics praised Phillips for his unique singing ability and his steadfast decision to focus on the music and improving that, as opposed to the glitz and glamour of being in the industry.
DStv.com participated in a conference call with both Phillips and Sanchez after the finale. Have a listen to Phillips' interview below, in which he discusses his debut single Home, which has already hit number one on the iTunes store and more.
