

This new drama series from Aaron Sorkin centers on a cable news anchor (Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), his newsroom staff and their boss. Together they set out on a patriotic and idealistic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles and their own personal entanglements.

Dev Patel
Character: Neal SampatDev Patel was born on April 23, 1990, in Harrow, London. The son of an IT employee and a caregiver, Dev Patel had an energetic and hyper personality, and craved attention and activity. Because of his manic energy, Dev Patel was pushed by his parents into the arts and, in middle school, he acted in his first play as Sir Andrew Aguecheek in a staged performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. He later won Best Actor of the Year from Longfield, his middle school.
From there, Dev Patel continued acting and, while attending Whitmore High School, he excelled in GCSE Drama. His proudest moment there was his fearless portrayal of a Russian hostage that earned him full credits. It was arguably this performance that reinforced Dev Patel's belief (and that of his mother) that he belonged in the acting world.
Olivia Munn
Character: Sloan SabbithOlivia Munn got her big break when she successfully landed a cohosting gig on Attack of the Show in 2006.
In addition to her various G4 duties - including a daily podcast called Around the Net - Olivia Munn continues to pursue acting roles in her off-hours, including parts on the TV series Beyond the Break; a role opposite Rob Schneider in Big Stan; and a as the recurring character Lana on Greek.
In 2010, she starred in Date Night opposite Mila Kunis and James Franco, and on Iron Man 2. In the Iron Man sequel, Munn plays Iron Maiden alongside Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. She also had a role opposite Sarah Jessica Parker and Pierce Brosnan in I Don't Know How She Does It.
Jeff Daniels
Character: Will McAvoyActor Jeff Daniels was born in Athens, Georgia but raised in Chelsea, Michigan, where his father Robert owns The Chelsea Lumber Company. He attended Central Michigan University, but became involved in acting and dropped out to pursue a career as an actor. Daniels made his feature film debut in Ragtime.
Daniels went on to prove himself to be one of Hollywood's most reliable and versatile actors with roles in successes such as Terms of Endearment, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Something Wild, Arachnophobia, Dumb & Dumber, Pleasantville, The Hours and Good Night, and Good Luck to name a few.
Alongside screen work, Daniels has many stage credits to his name and is the founder of The Purple Rose Theater Company in Chelsea, Michigan. He is also a musician and songwriter and has recorded two albums. Daniels is married to his childhood sweetheart, Kathleen Treado and they have three children.

1 Oct: The Blackout Pt 2: Mock Debate
The day of the pitch arrives: Will takes the team of Republican presidential hopefuls through a mock debate.
The pitch to the NRC requires one last push to drive ratings up: Lisa knew Casey Anthony in high school, so Jim and Maggie visit her at work to beg her to appear on the show.

24 Sep: The Blackout Pt1: Tragedy Porn
May, 2011. Ratings have dropped like a stone with viewers switching to "Nancy Grace" for the Casey Anthony trial.
Charlie insists they start reporting on Anthony fearing that the ratings fall will mean ACN won't get to lead on presidential debates (they have a game-changing idea) and that Leona will have her excuse to fire Will. Mackenzie pitches fits and grumbles.

17 Sep: 5/1
Sunday evening, May 1, 2011. The ACN news team is at Will's for a party to mark a year of good reporting.
Charlie gets a call alerting him to a major news announcement at 10. By 9:00, everyone's on their way to the studio (with Will under the influence of a Vicodin and two pot-laced cookies).

10 Sep: Bullies
April, 2011: Will has insomnia and drops by a psychiatrist's office for a prescription.
The doc, the son of a man Will consulted four years before, invites Will to sit: their session becomes flashbacks of the previous week.

3 Sep: Amen
It's the week leading up to Valentine's Day, 2011.
ACN needs someone on the ground in Cairo: Neal helps them recruit Amen ("the hidden one"), a young blogger who masks his face.
Before they'll use him, the network insists that Amen drop his anonymity.

27 Aug: I'll Try To Fix You
Will becomes tabloid news after a confrontation with a gossip columnist.
This threatens to undermine his credibility concerning a current news investigation.

20 Aug: The 112th Congress
Over several months leading up to the election, McAvoy takes on the Tea Party.
Meanwhile, Jim talks Maggie through a panic attack, and her relationship with Don is on again and off again.

13 Aug: News Night 2.0
Jim takes responsibility for Maggie's mistake.
MacKenzie takes charge of the revamped News Night and lobbies economist Sloan Sabbith to file a nightly financial report.

6 Aug: We Just Decided To
April 20, 2010. Will McAvoy comes back to his national news anchor desk two weeks after a PR disaster at a college forum.
He discovers that most of his staff are following his executive producer to another show, and his boss has hired Mackenzie MacHale as the new EP.
