Big paydays for TV stars

Ever wondered what some of TV’s most talented, loved, and sometimes hated, stars earn for delivering remarkable performances that keep us coming back for more in every episode?

Be it medical drama in Grey’s Anatomy and Do No Harm, crime in Deception and Elementary, fantasy adventure and action in Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, legal or political drama in The Fixer and Political Animals, DStv has it all.

Take a look at what some of our favourite television personalities are worth or what they get paid per episode:

This talented trio, Sandra Oh, Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy (Mondays at 19:30 on M-Net, also available on DStv On Demand) each rake in $350 000 per episode.

The hilarious adult cast from the award-winning comedy Modern Family (Mondays at 19:00 on M-Net, also available on DStv On Demand): Ed O'Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, get $175 000 per episode each, while the kids, Rico Rodríguez, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland, each earn an estimated $70 000 per episode.

Leading ladies Kerry Washington from The Fixer (Mondays at 20:30 on M-Net, also available on DStv On Demand) and Meagan Good from Deception (Wednesdays at 20:30 on M-Net Series, also available on DStv On Demand) are worth $3 million and $8 million respectively. Although this may seem meager, it’s not bad considering they’ve only recently been cast as the leads in these thrilling series.

Lea Michele from Glee (Thursday at 19:30 on M-Net Series, also available on DStv On Demand) is definitely no loser in reality with a $75 000 pay check per episode. Topping that is Lucy Lui’s $125 000 per episode of Elementary (Wednesdays at 20:30 on M-Net, also available on DStv On Demand). However, like the mystery behind Melissa George’s attempted murder in Hunted (Wednesdays at 21:30 on M-Net Series, also available on DStv On Demand), her salary eludes us.

Game of Thrones (Fridays at 21:30 on M-Net, also available on DStv On Demand) star Peter Dinklage has earned every inch of his net worth of $7 million. And also from Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke’s net worth is estimated to be around $4 million.
